The Abortion Counselling Services of Women's Liberation or Jane were an Anarcha-Feminist group operating from 1969 to 1973 in the USA to provide safe but illegal abortions and therapy for women. Over 100 women were members of Jane at its peak, and they provided an estimated 11,000 illegal abortions without death or injury. Angered by systems of male dominance in both normal society and the radical left, the women of Jane sought to create an anonymous, highly decentralized and efficient organization that provided much needed medical care. Horrified by the existence of an organization that was exposing many people to anarchism, the USA quickly legalized abortion.
